On the record.
How Destination Economies is built, funded, sourced and corrected. The standing rules of the publication.
- § IIndependence
Editorially independent. Reader-supported.
Destination Economies takes no money from operators, developers, sovereign vehicles, or sponsors covered in its pages. There are no advertorials, sponsored briefings, or paid placements. The publication is funded by readers and private research engagements that are disclosed when relevant.
- § IISourcing
Primary documents over press releases.
Every claim is sourced where possible to concession documents, regulatory filings, official communiqués, audited financials, and direct conversations with named principals. Press releases are treated as a starting point, not a record. Anonymous sources are used only when on-the-record discussion would carry professional or political risk, and only to corroborate evidence already in hand.
- § IIICorrections
Errors are restated, not quietly removed.
When a published piece contains a factual error, a dated correction is appended in place. Substantive revisions of analysis or conclusions appear in the annual State of Destinations volume, where past calls are restated honestly — what held, what didn't.
- § IVMethodology
Decision-grade or unwritten.
Briefs file weekly. Long-form pieces — deep dives, case studies, and concepts — publish only when the analysis clears the bar of being decision-grade for an institutional reader. There is no editorial calendar driving cadence above quality.
- § VContact

This colophon is itself a living document. Material changes are dated and noted in the annual volume.
